The year of building the church and the origin of its architectual forms are still being
disputed but the work did culminate between the 13th and 14th century. It is known
the church served as a stopover for the pilgrims from Scandinavia and Gotland. The
masterfully cut limestone figures are explained as the influence from those foreigners as
well.
