Like in most countries that gained independence after World War I, in Estonia the cultural and economic development enabled the establishment of a zoological garden only shortly before World War II. Tallinn Zoo was founded on 25 August 1939.
The Zoo is open every day all year round.
You are allowed to walk at the Zoo for 2 hours after the Ticket office is closed.
West Gate at Ehitajate tee 150 is closed from October to April.
Children´s Zoo open every day June - August, 10 - 16.
The renovated stable of Maarjamäe palace is an exhibition and educational environment of the Estonian History Museum. Here, the museum's conservation experts have their contemporary working rooms; you can observe them at work through glass walls.
