The masterfully carved wooden details of the chancel in Jämaja church point at the
connections between the 17th century Estonia and the German city Lübeck. The tiles
of the predescessing limestone chancel from the 16th century are now bricked between
the stones of the northern wall. The church got its current look in 1864.
