In the second half of the 19th century when curative sea-mud was discovered in Kuressaare and the town rose among the beloved resorts of czarist Russia the mud patients needed a resort hall too. Germans found it a more practical use, they turned it into a railway station during the I World War. The use was as practical after the II Worl War - as a warehouse. The resort hall was restored in 1990s.
