The cemetery was founded in the 1890ties but there can be found graves as old as 700 years. Famous Seto singer Hilana Taarka, priests Polikarp Muravjeiski and Peeter Tamm, teachers Anne Valdre and Adele Kuika have been buried here. Near Tuhkvitsa valley, North from the cemetery there can be found ancient burial mounds which are 1000-1300 years old.
