The side somebody fought at during the last war and whether that side was right or
wrong is of course a reason to have an argument but this monument is erected to
remember all the soldiers no matter what the uniform was. There are 684 names
engraved at the stone. The population on the island was 16 000 before the war. With
civilian victims there would have been the number one fifth engraved at the stone.
