The 1929 opened monument for the 82 fallen in the War of Independence and the 77 wounded was torn down in 1945 and probably sunk in the sea. A sculptor Mati Varik restored the monument by the pre-Soviet drawings. Ironically the statue of Viktor Kingissepp, the Communist in Estonia, that stood on the same spot was authored by the same sculptor.
