General A. G. de Villebois, the estate owner of Kurista manor of
the 18th century has his chapel in Võnnu old cemetery. Villebois
had relatives in czar’s family, his mother was czarina’s stepsister,
and he was valued in conducting fortification buildings but in
Kurista he was known to be an eavil man who was very harsh on
his peasants.
